Fisk 345 kV Transmission Lines
Drilled Shaft Optimization for ComEd.
The project involved new 345 kV transmission lines just outside downtown Chicago. Drilled shaft foundations would support ten tubular steel pole structures, many of which were subject to substantial loads. Original foundation designs included significant embedment into rock, which had substantial construction implications and led to alternative options being explored.
Geotechnical conditions were reevaluated and the designs were value engineered to optimize constructibility. The proposed VE designs reduced expected rock embedment lengths by 46% and rock excavation by 60%.

Projects
Manatee Battery Energy Storage Center
Irby Construction is currently at work on site at Manatee Battery Energy Storage Center (BESS) and substation, which upon completion will consist of 132 new battery line-ups connected to a new 230/34.5 kV substation. The Florida Power and Light project includes placement of 53,144 individual battery modules on a site that is the size of 3 football fields.
Fort McMurray West 500-kV AC Transmission Project
The West Fort McMurray (WFMAC) 500 kV Transmission Line Project includes over 310 miles of high voltage transmission line, expansion of the existing Livock substation, and construction of the new Thickwood Hills substation, all located in Northcentral Alberta.
Blattner completes significant repower project
The 373.8 MW Logan County repower project is located in Logan County, Colorado. Blattner’s scope consisted of the mechanical overhaul of 214 existing turbines which was completed in two phases.
